LÂMTÖN was founded by 7 Tibetan students (shown above) from Carleton and St. Olaf College in 2008. Having, themselves, benefited from similar programs during high school, these college students saw a need for, and the value of, having such a program in the Tibetan community.
Since its inception, LÂMTÖN has expanded to include students from Hamline University, University of Minnesota, Macalester college, St. Catherine University and Concordia University. In order for LÂMTÖN to persist in its programming efforts, the program became a part of the Tibetan American Foundation of Minnesota, under the lead of the Education committee. Through this joint effort, we have been able to successfully reach out to many Tibetan high school students in Minnesota and continued our efforts to further the academic aspirations of Tibetan youth.
